Noemie Piccione of Pigeon Art

Noemie is a young artist, living in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales. As a teenager, Noemie took Slavica Zivkovic’s after school classes at the BDAS, and more recently has studied ceramic painting with Carmel Malcolm (BDAS) and hand building pottery with Simon Bowley (Sturt).

Noemie was born in France and moved to Australia when she was eleven. Some of her fondest memories were coming out to Australia to see her extended family and working on her grandparent’s farm. Even then, she felt drawn to the wonders of the Australian native flora and fauna.

As a teenager, Noemie regularly entered artwork into the Young Artist Competition held by the BDAS and over the years won 3rd prize, 1st prize and an encouragement award.

Noemie has combined her love of animals and painting in her recent watercolour animal series, which she has turned into greeting and post cards.

Noemie’s latest passion is her work with ceramics. Starting with poured pieces, Noemie learned to uses traditional Italian hand painting techniques to achieve French, Moroccan and other sometimes naïve or quirky ceramic designs.

Since then, she has learned hand building pottery techniques and working with white earthenware, she hand builds pieces and hand paints her designs. Finding the perfect design for the piece is one of her favourite things!

“I want to keep my pieces affordable and allow people to own beautiful and practical objects they can use everyday.” – Noemie Piccione
